“Come on, we’ve got room.”

Home A Neighborhood Georgetown “Come on, we’ve got room.”

“Come on, we’ve got room.”

Oct 14, 2010 | Posted by User Submission |

I was walking to a bookstore on a Friday night when someone in a passing car offered me a ride. He looked college-age, like a wannabe but failed frat boy, hanging out the back window of a gray sedan. I regarded him for a moment before ignoring him. “Come on, we’ve got room,” he coaxed, before his cohort in the passenger seat called, “How much for all three?” Clever.

I’m certain that these witty gentlemen would’ve next observed that I am Asian American, and then taken a crack at that. Thankfully they drove off.
