Job Description: Collective Action for Safe Spaces (CASS), a community-based and -led organization that aims to empower the DC Metro area to build a community free from public sexual harassment and assault, is looking for a communications/Development Intern. The intern will generate content for our blog and social media accounts, reaching around 6,000 followers, and create promotional and outreach materials for our development projects through the fall.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to burnish their writing and social media skills. With all of our interns, we encourage creative thinking around arts and expression, community-building, and outreach.
CASS is a small organization that relies largely on the energy of volunteers. We are unable to offer compensation for this position, but we will work with your college or university to provide you with course credit.
Duration: 15-20 hours/week for 4 months, beginning in September 2014. This is a work-from-anywhere position, but applicants should be located in DC as there may be some in-person obligations.
Duties: The Communications/Development Intern will play a key role in maintaining CASS’s strong online presence and supporting our end of the year fundraising activities.
• Help draft blog posts and create daily social media postings.
• Create promotional and outreach materials for fundraising campaigns.
• Update and organize fundraising databases.
• A variety of other duties as needed.
• Strong writing skills
• Ability to self-manage and meet deadlines
• Strong organizational skills
• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program.
