Network for Victim Recovery of DC (NVRDC) hosts Launch Party & Art Party!

One of our partner organizations (a new baby on the block!) Network for Victim Recovery of DC* is hosting their Launch Party on Wednesday, November 7 at the Lost Society. And it will showcase artwork you can help make this weekend!

Kickoff fundraiser for NVRDC!
A new holistic victim services organization

Lost Society
2001 14th St. N.W.
Wednesday, Nov. 7

  • Food, free beer, full cash bar
  • Art exhibit created by crime survivors to tell their stories of recovery
  • Silent auction with items from the Washington Redskins and Capitals
  • Downton Abbey photo signed by the entire cast, and more.

Free booze, good food, amazing auction prizes, the whole DC sha-bang!

BUT, the cool thing is that the Launch Party will showcase your stories of healing. Art therapy is an amazing way for people to heal and move beyond the suffering, and D.C. area residents affected by crime are invited to share their stories through artwork they create this Saturday.

If you’d like to share your stories and chill with amazing women and men, join NVRDC this Saturday, October 27th, from 11-2 PM at The Lighthouse (5321 First Place NE, right by Fort Totten metro).

NVRDC’s case manager and advocate, Christa Heilman, will lead a short art therapy education workshop then facilitate an art therapy “free-style” where community members can use provided art materials to create their own illustration of how crime has impacted their life and their path to recovery. Ms. Heilman previously worked as a Community  Educator at the DC Rape Crisis Center, facilitating girls’ empowerment groups in DC Public Schools. She also worked in Chiang Mai, Thailand as an Art Director leading art therapy workshops for diverse social groups.

*In full disclosure, Chai, the co-founder of CASS, works at NVRDC providing civil legal representation to sexual assault survivors.
