Kissing Sounds Make Me Gag

soundboard.com
What is up with the kissing sounds? Why do men (I have yet to have a woman make a kissing sound to me as I walk by) think this is the way to get a woman’s POSITIVE attention?

Like most mornings, I saw the Shady Grove train roll in to the Silver Spring metro station, and I ran. About 12 seconds before reaching the Metro gates, I opened up my backpack and got my wallet. As I was closing up my backpack and running through the gates, a group of METRO employees started making kissing sounds towards me and watching me run up the escalator. If I had time, I would of yelled at them since I’m on an anger spell right now.

My tax dollars should not be financing this type of behavior. Don’t Metro employees go through some sort of training on customer service? Is “make kissing sounds” a bullet point under “appropriate behavior”? WTF?!

I hope you reported those idiots. Time/date/location/description of Metro employees—you’ve got a report.

I really want Metro employees to be held accountable for their actions on the job.

yeah, maybe i should have stopped my day to take the employee names and employee numbers. however, THEY shouldn’t have done it period. i shouldn’t have to be taking these extra steps all the time. although that may be a solution to some people, it’s not a solution for all of us.

Believe you me, I understand. I deal with harassment frequently and it is not fair that these men get to do whatever they want while we sit and take it. But reporting these men is the only way to get some changes made and for people to take the idea of harassment seriously. There are times when I second guess myself and wonder if reporting it’s really worth it, but when I do report it I feel good (regardless of the outcome). It’s not fair that they get to get away with harassing women while on the job.

WMATA has a customer service contact form here. I’ve used it a few times to report harassing WMATA employees. I don’t think you need to know their names—as long as you have the basics I listed above, you should be good to go.

Whether or not you report it is up to you. I wish you the best.
