Our friends over at Unsuck DC Metro alerted us to a story that was sent to them a week ago about a Metro operator who harassed a passenger:
I arrived at the Glenmont station this morning just as the train was arriving. I had a fleeting thought that it might be a pretty good Metro day. Then, I hear some weird animal sounds as the train is pulling in, and it’s the operator, with his head hanging out the window, looking BEHIND HIM, ogling some girl! He was not paying the least bit of attention to what was going on in front of him.
Apparently his shift was almost done, so when the train stopped, he left the operator’s cabin, went out on the platform, checked her out through the window, CAME BACK ON THE TRAIN, hit on her some more and, after apparently being rejected, bailed just as the doors were closing.

We are completely appalled by all the harassment occurring at the Metro stations, although not terribly shocked. Not only do we have to worry about being harassed by fellow passengers, we also have to worry about Metro employees. We don’t take this crap standing down (or sitting next to, or standing up).
We posted our concerns to WMATA’s General Manager John Catoe during an online session with the DC Metro constituents. Which he responded to, giving us information on how to redress this problem.
Anyone being harassed in any way by a Metro employee should take the name of the employee, record the date, time and location of the incident and report it our customer service department, at 202-637-1328 or online at www.metroopensdoors.com[.] When an incident is reported, a case file is created and the information is sent to the head of the Division for the employee in question. We will conduct a thorough investigation and take appropriate action. Harassment is not acceptable, please do not tolerate it, take action and report it, so that we can take action as well.
